We know about food; we've won six ‘chef hats’. Like our wondrous Victorian landscape, food changes, often. Degustation is out, and high-end gourmet ingredient antipasti is in – the Italians call it Spuntino! Lots of little snacks, making up for a fabulous peasant style dining experience...just like being served by a Nonna! Our Villa guests have embraced our old-Italy dishes using local produce. Like; Milawa formaggi, casa insalati, , Calabrese salumi e proscuitto, our forest grown pino funghi, Mt Buffalo olives, interesting bruschetta, chef Emma's house made sausage and gnocchi, Bright Berry Farm berries, and Emma's changing daily tasty morsels served with house baked ciabatta. We don't offer a menu, just Nonna style cooking using Villa grown produce, farmer Brown produce and local fare. This is how they do it, in Sicily and Calabria!
Continuing to serve your favourite Italian dishes - and more.Perfectly positioned for a sweeping outlook and a snapshot of Melbourne.Satisfying and generous - absolute simplicity with maximum flavour.
We are serious about what we do and endeavour to provide exceptional service, coffee, and food. We have a handful of wholesale coffee customers that we roast specifically for who are like minded and keen to produce good things. We also retail coffee directly to the general public out of the cafe. We feel we have great teams, from our front of house staff and kitchen crew through to our roasters and reps. We believe that when it's all boiled down it's the people who really make a difference and that continually learning and adapting is the best way to stay fresh and enthusiastic.Hospitality is the essence of what we do and every element is as important as the rest. We endeavour to create coffee and food that is both affordable and outstanding.

As a boy, Sir Stafford Henry Northcote had dreams of grandeur. He was a kind and gentle young man with a wild imagination and a healthy ambition. Years later, Sir Stafford Henry, would leave a lasting impression on Melbourne’s development and culture. For 111 years, our beloved Thornbury was part of the City of Northcote. In June 1994, Thornbury stood up and claimed the title of suburb in its own right. Little Henri pays homage to Northcote and celebrates the rich local history by tipping our cap to Sir Stafford Henry…or as we like to call him, Little Henri.

To quote one of our bloggers HenryNSW “Wonder where the local French go for a taste of home? Wonder no more”. A La Bouffe is where you will experience true French hospitality. When the French back home get together with friends and family to prepare a meal, when all the chopping, mixing and baking is done, the cook calls out “a la bouffe” let’s eat, and everyone sits down to enjoy their home cooked meal. That is what you will experience at A La Bouffe – an informal, friendly and delicious experience. No pretensions, just good friendly service and delicious food. When French visitors are feeling home sick for some Cream Brulée or Clafoutis (traditional sour cherry pudding) this is where they visit.Jacky Frenot and Gabrielle Dewan, owners of A La Bouffe Bar & Bistro invite you to come to our little corner of France in the middle of Prahran and South Yarra shopping precinct and indulge your senses with our extensive range of popular traditional French dishes and contemporary style dishes as specials. Try our Seafood Millefeuille, puff pastry with mussels, scallops and prawns in seafood bisque. Or our Pavé a La Bearnaise, grass fed Goulburn Valley beef thick eye fillet, Pommes Sarladaises, green salad and Béarnaise sauce . Just two samples from our menu. There is an extensive wine list featuring French and Australian wines, aperitifs and beers. We are across the road from the Como Palace Cinema and we are open to late. So after the film, finish off a perfect evening with a glass of wine or champagne, or a coffee and one of A La Bouffe’s signature desserts. As MoMo & Coco describe A La Bouffe: “beautiful heartfelt food delivered by unpretentious staff in an utterly elegant setting….Overall, A La Bouffe is a fine showcase of rather authentic, accessible French luxury….”

Tucked down a small city lane, with a neighbouring shoe-repair place and a sushi bar, this inconspicuous lunch spot draws inspiration from the classic Italian deli. And it has a lot of charm. Previously a nondescript pho joint, the space has had a complete makeover, turning the small space into a slick, modern eatery with art-deco style curves, wooden swivel stools and a bright neon “deli” sign above the counter.Chef Brian Narciso (La Luna, The European and Gorski & Jones) heads up the kitchen, smoking trout, curing pickles and preparing salads which fill the deli counter. The menu, put together by writer and regular New Guernica DJ Nick Jamieson, features six rotating daily salads. When we visited there was trout orecchiette, a salad of enoki mushroom with edamame, cherry-smoked chicken and farro and a zucchini ribbon salad. The sandwiches include a tonkatsu roll (crumbed pork, cheese and coleslaw), a mushroom roll or a Reuben sandwich. There is also house-made tequila-cured salmon and a selection of unusual cheeses (including the only smoked blue cheese in the world, apparently). Dine in or take these home with cured meat, pasta and a bottle of wine. Because it is licensed, Chuckle Deli also offers a small selection of international wines, the owner’s favourite spirits and some beers to have with lunch.
