Express Lunch Restaurants Melbourne
Albert Park, Victoria
The Age Good Food Guide proclaims ‘this is a serious restaurant with a team that knows what it's doing.' The professionals at The Point are dedicated to excellence, educated in the traditions of fine dining, still fond of white linen tablecloths and fine china, but not at all stuffy. Dining with them is a truly fulfilling experience.
Executive Chef Justin Wise’s menus take a contemporary approach to classic cuisine, making use of not only the best produce but some key luxury ingredients such as caviar, truffles and an expansive range of beef aged to exacting specifications on site. The Express Lunch Menu offers a fantastic well-priced entree into dining at The Point Restaurant, with 2 courses and a glass of wine for $40 per person; the Tasting Point degustation showcases a wider range of dishes, at $165 for 8 courses.
The cellar, established and carefully tended over The restaurant’s 17 year history, comprises both hallmark international wines and those from innovative local producers. A team of sommeliers is available to match wine to your chosen dish, or perhaps vice versa!
The Point is conveniently located 10 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD, set on Albert Park lake amongst serene parklands, with ample parking directly outside of the venue.
Private dining is available for special celebrations or corporate entertaining in either the intimate Private Cellar, or the larger light-filled space overlooking the lake.
Brooks of Melbourne
Lodged beneath the streets of Melbourne, Brooks Restaurant & Bar chronicles time, place and people.
It takes as its setting the basement of Austral House, designed in 1890 by noted architect Nahum Barnet. Light filters into the dining room from glass bricks fixed in the Collins Street footpaths above. The aged parquetry and bar tops gleam, the private dining room at the base of the stairs beckons.
In the restaurant, old-fashioned hospitality is interposed with contemporary technique. General Manager Bryan Lloyd leads a team of true professionals on the floor. Conversation is witty, warm and welcoming. The sommelier would be delighted to open a bottle of something for you, something old world or new.
At the heart of the offer is the expertise of chef Nic Poelaert. Nic cooks with finesse, with care, and – always, always – with an understanding of seasonality and locality. Dishes make use of innovative ingredients, and deft touches of luxury – Wagyu beef, foie gras, Australian marron and fresh truffles. This is a menu both creative and conducive to good eating.
Brooks can be enjoyed for a quick city lunch, a considered business dining venue or a more expansive degustation experience. Drop by the bar – well-served by Shae Silvestro’s classic, considered list of cocktails – anytime.
