Owners Paul and Myrto Recinella opened Vatutto after moving on from their 16 year institution at Zio’s in East Melbourne. Vatutto offers two separate dining areas, the restaurant and the bistro. The restaurant is a white table clothed area suitable for special occasions, and but still relaxed friendly service.The bistro offers cheaper options but still extensive menu, no white tablecloths, with the same relaxed friendly service. Please note both areas are serviced by the same kitchen and offer the same quality food and service.Alternatively a private function room is available for those special events or meetings. Paul who is head chef uses the best quality ingredients. Seafood is delivered twice daily and the diners here are fortunate to have an amazing selection ranging from fresh calamari,export grade king prawns, diver harvested scallops, pearl meat from Paspaley in Broome, live spanner crabs, oysters freshly shucked to order, and an excessive choice of all line caught fresh fish ranging from King George Whiting, John Dory, Rockling, Northern Territory wild Barramundi, and Flathead. Seasonally Morton Bay bugs and Tasmanian lobster are also available. Menu is extensive offering poultry, duck,home made pasta, veal, lamb,and risotto. All beef is dry aged grass fed, bread is baked twice daily, all desserts, pastries, ice cream and chocolates are made in house using quality ingredients. The Bistro offers in addition to the menu an interesting selection of gourmet pizzas. Once again we use only premium quality ingredients, Imported cheeses and premium small-goods, gluten free and wholemeal pizza are available. All fruit and vegetables are supplied by 'Toscanos' and once again we only use the best quality, and flavorsome produce.

Executive Chef Justin Wise’s menus take a contemporary approach to classic cuisine, making use of not only the best produce but some key luxury ingredients such as caviar, truffles and an expansive range of beef aged to exacting specifications on site. The Express Lunch Menu offers a fantastic well-priced entree into dining at The Point Restaurant, with 2 courses and a glass of wine for $40 per person; the Tasting Point degustation showcases a wider range of dishes, at $165 for 8 courses.

The cellar, established and carefully tended over The restaurant’s 17 year history,comprises both hallmark international wines and those from innovative local producers. A team of sommeliers is available to match wine to your chosen dish, or perhaps vice versa!

The Point is conveniently located 10 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD, set on Albert Park lake amongst serene parklands, with ample parking directly outside of the venue.

Private dining is available for special celebrations or corporate entertaining in either the intimate Private Cellar, or the larger light-filled space overlooking the lake.
